Holidays and Other Stuff

I could not have asked for better holidays. It was filled with food, fun and fellowship. Skip, Sarah, Ben and baby were here for a week. CR and Harvey spent time with family when not at their office working. I was blessed to be able to take off the week and hang out with family. We had those good times of eating snacks, Christmas lunch and sharing gifts with each other. Our extended family came on Christmas Day and visited--there were probably 20 of us to make conversation--laugh together--share together--and have a few pictures taken.

Skip, Sarah, Ben, baby and I went to the Science Museum one afternoon. It was so much fun watching Ben look at the big fish, snakes, turtles and we even tried the storytime but he was interested more in the slide in the room. That's ok--for he had fun and we did too.

We had those times of just sitting around the house talking, and relaxing--allowing Ben to play in the yard, ride in his wagon, and just play around inside. No definite plans--just go with the flow of the day. It allowed us to unwind from the Christmas Day fun. Skip and Sarah got an afternoon to do whatever they so desired without me or Ben. While they did their running around, Ben, grandma and grandpa went out to eat and just played.

Then there was the Christmas Eve visit with Aunt Syble Cogan--89. Harvey and I had made this a yearly trip for many years--taking her Christmas snacks and having a visit with her. Skip went with us and seemed to enjoy the visit with family that he had not seen in many years.

We also visited my cousin, Margaret while Skip, Sarah and Ben were here. It turned out to be a blessing for us and for her. It was short but so nice and will always be remembered by us. As Margaret died on January 2nd from emphasema complications. She loved her family and seemed to enjoy our visit that day.

All in all, the family was blessed with their health, their love for each other and fun times together.
